On Monday we went back to Plitvice lakes in order to conduct third sampleing of lakes Kozjak and Prošće. This time we were helped by our former student Anamaria which proved herself skillful and useful in the field. With her help and the already habitual help of Mr. Pero at the helm of the boat, field sampling was done really quickly. In the first part of the fieldwork, at Kozjak lake, we have enjoyed warm and sunny weather and used the opportunity to visit the rich waterfalls on the lake. But when we got to the lake Prošće weather already started to deteriorate, the stronger wind blew, and we carried out the second part of the sampling with rocking boat and splashing water. We managed to complete the work before the rain and return to Zagreb in time for sample processing. Upon arrival at the laboratory we immediately checked the live plankton samples under a microscope and photographed species that we found, adding to the photo collection of diatoms that we are building.
